Since I  turned 50 already, I should not tip toe around the issues in my paintings, at least not all the time.

I am a believer in information, yes, it may be subjected to private interests but data is science and eventually an exhaustive inquiry is pivotal to correct information. That is why I research. Data will be a part of many of my pieces, and if I have it my way, and if I find a way, i would love it to be a permanent part of my work.

I am not there yet, I still paint based on emotions, mostly.

Barely 70 years ago women started getting rights that common men have enjoyed for centuries.
Only 40 years ago, which is nothing, women were having their own revolution, therefore history thinks of us as a young country, needing guidance and control.

My mother, an extremely modern woman of her time was crushed by womanhood, what a woman was supposed to be, to behave and to feel. So a big part of my painting has her in mind.

The social portrait of woman is shallow, picture posing, she is depicted fragile, without character, generic....
That has been a trait of my paintings.  I elaborate in these attributes particularly.
My work of 2012 is the most difficult I have ever worked on. These collages, mostly upset and
cornered, a women's way, or at least my way.... comments on what I consider the most important issues related to women today:

  • The role and picture developed by our society for women, with templates very flat and condescending
  • How and why women become brutalized and how we are participating on the victimization

98% of women that aborted did so after weighting the responsibility of motherhood.... not for fun

Still in the United States :
270,000 children go to foster care per year
only 7000 were adopted, per year.
400,000 children are in foster care today

95% did not want to get pregnant and were actively avoiding it! 51% had used a contraceptive method in the month they got pregnant, 27% most commonly condoms  or 17% a hormonal method

WHO is Aborting?
45% Women who have never married and are not cohabiting account for 45% of all abortions.
42% Forty-two percent of women obtaining abortions have incomes below 100% of the federal poverty level ($10,830 for a single woman with no children)
27% Twenty-seven percent of women obtaining abortions have incomes between 100 and 199% of the federal poverty level. = $21,660
Does any of this sounds careless or for fun?

Instigators and "not-my-problem" witnesses

We should publicly  scorn those provoking hate, intolerance and radicalism, and do it without violence, calmly and strongly and every time we see it happening.

But we are not doing it, we are being entertained by all these radical instigators ....
Shame on us and all our excuses
