ABOUT ME
I depict women stripped from witnesses, judges and competitors. The portraits are generic, women disrobed from the intimacy of their identity, exaggerating their vulnerability.

The dark depth of women has always immensely attracted me. Such sadness could equally be scripted in women by nature, by her expected role or maybe as the result of the unfair and violent behavior practiced against her from the beginning of our civilizations.

I continue reflecting on our sadness, the abusive behaviour towards women, our fragile position on society and the gravity of our situation vis a vis the human advances. I reflect on the relatively recent flimsy freedom acquired by women and the arrogance of the debate regarding our bodies; our disadvantaged economical position that stresses our future and decision makingprocesses and the still brittle and crude quality of the womanhood concept.

But, someone asked me not long ago, why not men, they feel almost the same!... Do they?
Matilde Alberny
“This artist is a witness of her time. Matilde Alberny gives us a chance to express our emotion on the basis of her work. As we can see this is an extreme judgment of our society, a history of mankind, as we know it. These are not decorative paintings; these are narrative art pieces that are telling us a story that we as women are trying to repress.”
